How do I care for my spray tan after my appointment?

  • Pat your skin dry after a bath or shower.
  • Moisturise regularly.
  • Avoid long hot baths and showers.
  • Avoid swimming pools and saltwater as these can reduce your tan.

What should I wear whilst having my treatment?

That is totally up to you and whatever you feel comfortable in, some women wear a thong whilst some wear a bikini and some women prefer to wear nothing at all.

Will it transfer on to my clothes?

This is most likely to happen when you get dressed immediately after tanning. To minimize the chance of this happening please wear loose fitting dark clothes after your tanning appointment.

Is it safe to have a spray tan treatment when pregnant?

Sienna x spray tan is safe to have after the first trimester.

How long will my spray tan take to develop?

It takes 8 hours to fully develop at which point you can take a shower and wash off the guide colour to reveal the natural-looking tan beneath.

The express has to be left on for only 1 hour before you shower and will then go on to fully develop after 4 hours.

How long does the appointment take?

It usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes to complete treatment.

How does a spray tan work?

The spray tanning liquid contains an ingredient called (DHA) Dihydroxyacetone which is a compound that reacts with amino acids in your skin and oxygen in the air leaving your skin a darker shade. This reaction happens differently depending on your skin tone.

What will happen before, during and after my treatment?

On your first treatment your therapist will ask you a number of questions and a consultation card will be completed. You will then undress to your chosen dark underwear and remove jewellery. Barrier cream will be applied to your hands, elbows, knees, feet and other dry areas to reduce tan absorption; this would result in these areas tanning darker than the rest. Simply follow your therapists instructions, spraying will take around ten minutes. The guide colour you see will be showered off after your development time of 8 hours to reveal your natural looking sienna X tan. This is with the exception of the Express Tans, which develops after 1 hour.

Is it safe?

The Spray tans are completely safe, free of parabens and 100% UV free, however we do not recommend spray tans for clients who suffer from severe eczema, psoriasis or those who have bad cuts or abrasions. Please remember the tanning product does not contain any sun protection factor ( SPF), so will not protect you from the sun.

How does spray tanning work?

Dihydroxyacetone ( DHA ) is a colourless sugar and the active ingredient in the guide coloured solution that will be sprayed onto your skin. This reacts with proteins and amino acids in the skin to create a golden brown colour.

The colour you see at the time of your treatment is purely a guide colour to show your therapist that your skin is evenly covered. after eight hours your actual tan will have developed and will be revealed after you shower. This is with the exception of the Express Tan, which develops after 1 hour.

Will I still need to use sun protection with a sienna X tan?

Yes, a sunscreen with a SPF factor of 20 or more is recommended.       

How long will my tan last?

Your tan will last approximately 5 to 7 days depending on your daily skin care regime, lifestyle and how well you exfoliated before your treatment. A sunless tan fades just like a tan from the sun so as your body sheds dead skin cells, so your tan will fade. Daily moisturisation is extremely important in helping to maintain your spray tan.

How dark will I get?

A range of solutions are available, though as a general rule the darker you tan in the sun, the darker you will tan with sienna X.
